Folder, Line, Translation

This is the heart of Poneglyph. Every project is built from three levels: Folders, Lines, and Translations.

Think of it this way: Folders are like chapters, Lines are like sentences, and Translations are the same sentence written in each language.

A Folder organises a project. Folders hold your Lines and group related text together.

  • Folders can nest, so you can build a tree that matches your game.
  • A Folder can carry notes and flags to give writers context.
  • Folders are the left-hand tree. Select a Folder to load its Lines.

A Line is a single piece of in-game text, like one spoken phrase or one menu label.

  • Each Line has an id and a set of columns.
  • Lines appear in the grid when you select their Folder.
  • Pick a Line to work on its text.

A Translation is the value of a Line in one language.

  • Each Line shows its Translations across the language columns.
  • You edit the Translation for the language you own. Managers can edit every language.

To start changing text, see Editing cells.

When the grid is long, narrow it down with the Filter bar.
