Speech recognition

Poneglyph can dictate translation content via speech recognition — handy for transcribing voice notes, drafting lines on the fly, or for accessibility.

The microphone button in the translation cell editor toggles dictation. Click it, speak, click again to stop. The transcribed text replaces the cell content.

The first time you use it you’ll be asked to grant microphone permission. The recogniser uses the platform default (Windows Speech Recognition).

Dictation works in any language Windows Speech Recognition supports. Switch the recogniser language in Windows Settings → Time & Language → Speech.

Speech recognition is best for short lines and rough drafts — proofread before committing. For long-form transcription, prefer a dedicated tool and paste the result.
